Beautiful mahjong solitaire

Great game, as good as the iPhone/iPad version (except that I cant hide the timer on the Mac version). I love all the choices in layouts, tilesets and backgrounds.

frustrated

I cannot figure out how to change the layout or anything else. Where are the options located? This is unbelievably frustrating .... When I tried to contact support, it told me to give a build number which I couldnt find even with the explanation of how to find it!!!! Arghhhhh.... so, if anyone can offer a bit of info on this Id really appreciate it!!!!!

Beautiful

This has instantly replaced an old free version. As Drdul says, beautiful layouts, backgrounds, tilesets. Niiiiicccccce. One cool addition to my Diversions playground.

Best Mahjongg Ive found

Not only does the game layout change with each game, you also get fortune cookies as you complete the game. My only suggestion for the Mac version would be to add the three types of fortune cookies that are in the iPhone version.

This is a lot of fun

Beautiful looking game. Lots of layouts, tile sets, and backgrounds to choose from. The 3D effect is well done, and makes its easy to determine which tiles are available to be removed. This games IOS version is too small for my iPhone but is perfect on my Mac.

Buggy

Because it is a beautiful game and the only game I play (no angry birds for me) I grabbed this game off the app store. Already have it for iPhone and iPad. Got the same tileset and background, playing the same layout. But tiles are not working. Some removable tiles are removable, but others are not. It should work like my iOS versions except using touchpad instead of touchscreen. But it doesnt. It may work with other layouts but I want MY layout. Sent trouble report and hoping the developer responds with an update.

A favourite

I play this game all the time. Some layouts are easy while some are challenging. I game has never crashed or hung, a few tiles can not be removed when I think it should be possible but thats only possible glitch in the game.

BEST

I’m big into look & this app looks great. Many options & preferences also make this, I’m sure, the best Mahjong app available. GET!

I Love This Game

First, this is a great game for iPhone, and now for my Mac! It cant get any better than this!!

Brilliant!

Love it on my iPod 4G, love it on my Mac! Thanks guys!

In a Class by Itself!

I could not be more pleased that I can now experience my favorite iPhone Mahjong solitaire game on my MacBooks larger screen. Tileset designs are excellent - some are just stunning in their use of color. So far, excellent performance! Thanks to MobileAge for developing this high-quality program for Mac OS X.

A great game!

Like everyone else I play this on my iPhone and have been hoping it would come to the Mac. That day has finally arrived. It is a great version Mahjong I will be laying for a long time.

Just RIght

What I most appreciate about this game is that it doesnt try to cram in every possible feature, option or preference. Instead it focuses on providing an intuitive design that allows just the right amount of customization for the games core elements: tiles, layouts and backgrounds (though I do hope a future version might allow me to use my own photos as the backdrop.) The bottom line is if Apple were going to produce their own Mahjong game, it would look and play just like this one.

Beautiful, Captivating and Funny

Im a cynic and an asthetic snob. Something I want to point out because its good to know the perspective of the reviewer. MobileAges Shanghai Mahjong is gorgeous, and while sleekness probably shouldnt impact gameplay that much, but it does for me. There are some tilesets I dont like, but thankfully, I have the option to select tilesets that fit my sensibility and also up the challenging aspect of the game. As someone who gets sucked into this game, its nice to have variety (tile art, background and layout). The fortunes at the end are an especially endearing touch that make me want to hit "new game" more than a productive citizen should. Sometimes you walk away patting yourself on the back, and sometimes you are reminded of a little life truism (and life isnt all roses, but it sure is funny). Unexpectedly, this little game is also helpful in teaching the alphabet. Perhaps this is the real nugget of gold in this review, discovering something not immediately self-evident. Costs less than a super duper mocha latte with sprinkles, but way more satisfying and energizing.

Nicely done

Excellent version of Mahjong. Looks and plays great on my iMac screen.

A near-perfect implementation of classic Shanghai

Having bought the original Shanghai for Mac way back when, Ive been looking for a version with the same simplicity and customizability ever since. Id have to say this is by far the most aesthetically pleasing and playable version Ive come across. Excellent!

buggy game

constantly crashes and doesnt always function 100%. sometimes fortune appears after a win. other times it doesnt. otherwise a good game. but I would definitely look for a Mahjong game without bugs.

The Best!

MobileAge have scored a home run with this version. I can enjoy Shanghai on the go or at home - Im a happy camper! This isnt just a port of the iphone/ipad game either. They spent some time with this, and it shows. I only wsh the fortune wa a tad bit larger in proportion to the size of the window but thats a minor quibble.

Absolutely Great!

In terms of available layouts, tilesets, and background choices, this Mahjong app has to be right at the top of the best ever! Graphics are bright, clear and very innovative. The price is very affordable for such outstanding work. If the game were to be improved at all, it would be to expand the zoom limitation to better accommodate larger monitors like the iMac 27 incher. If you enjoy Mahjong solitaire, this is the one to buy!

Shanghai Mahjong

This game is gorgeous! Everything seems to have been taken into consideration - the tiles, (Star Trek - nice touch!) the backgrounds. Now I can enjoy my favorite board game, right down to the fortune displayed at the conclusion of the game. Nicely done.
